Social Media and Editorial Assistant

endoQueer is a growing support space for LGBTQIA+ people experiencing endometriosis and similar illnesses. In 2023, because of our success, we will be expanding our focus to all gynecological illnesses and how they intersect with the queer community and you as our social media assistant will be part of that growth.

Preferably you’re a member of  LGBTQIA+ community or a knowledgeable and affirming ally.  The assistant will work approximately 5 hours a week, but depending on the growth of the organization and other opportunities with sibling organizations, those hours may increase. We will meet weekly sometime after 7 pm Eastern time on Monday or Friday. The pay will be $100-150 weekly for now, but will rise as we begin to raise more funding for the group.

Social media knowledge and interest is a must as that is a majority of this role and you will be supervised by a veteran communication professional, who will guide you and nurture your interest and learning of these platforms, along with other aspects of communication and education appropriate for a social justice and chronic illness organization. We will work together to create a plan and content to aid in our mission to provide support, advocacy, and accurate information about gynecological conditions as they intersect with LGBTQIA+ identities. Yes, social media can be a cesspool and a triggering space and we aim to create content that affirms, along with partner with other people to lift voices. You will be part of helping us create an affirming institutional voice, that lifts up necessary conversations, but doesn’t get lost in trolling, bots, and folks who need somewhere to vent, but aren’t able to find that space and use us as a dumping ground.

Additionally,  we are a trans, nonbinary and gender-nonconforming, Black American, working-class,  disabled-led organization. In addition to being ok with sensitive health information from the the organizational leaders and our collective members, you must be affirming of gender fluidity and sexual agency regardless of orientation, pro-Black, pro sex worker, and affirming of the identities of people despite their abilities and work/financial status.

Please email us at endoQueer@gmail.com with your interest.

Looking forward to meeting you!
